mirrors nature. The HypnoBirthing Program was developed 
in 1989 by Marie Mongan and is based on the work of 
English obstetrician, Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, the father 
of Natural Childbirth. HypnoBirthing® proponents subscribe 
to the belief that when a women is given the proper 
preparation for childbirth, she and her birthing companion 
can experience a safe, serene, and satisfying birthing,

HypnoBirthing® teaches mothers to deeply relax in order to birth calmly and more comfortably, using self-hypnosis techniques. It draws on ancient wisdom used by women in cultures the world over to birth using natural mammalian instincts. We share these instincts with whales, dolphins, elephants, giraffes, cats, dogs and more. Most mammals birth easily and comfortably and humans possess the ability to do the same.   

Emphasis is placed on pregnancy and childbirth as well as on pre-birth parenting and the consciousness and awareness of the baby in utero. HypnoBirthing® educates parents to empower them to advocate for their childbirth goals and to find supportive care providers. It teaches the best practices right after the baby is born to help improve family bonding and to help encourage successful breast-feeding.  It also helps women transition into their 'fourth trimester' (the three months after baby is born). Techniques you will learn for birth & labour preparation can help you any time you are stressed or anxious, not just when birthing.  These include:
